Killarney National Park

Walking

Nestled deep in the woodlands of Killarney National Park, Kenmare House is an incredible base to explore the 25,000-acre park on foot.

From gentle woodland loops to the walk straight into Killarney town, there’s a route for every pace.

Trails to try

Ross Castle

Wander through the woodland of Killarney Demesne to meet the Kerry cows and Ireland’s only native red deer herd, finishing at the 15th-century Ross Castle.

Ross Island

An easy, pleasant woodland loop taking in the old copper mines, the Blue Pool, Grosvenor Rock and Library Point, with panoramic lake views.

Killarney Circular Walk

Straight from the House, follow tarmac woodland paths or rustic parkland trails where red deer graze, past St Mary’s Cathedral into Killarney town.

Muckross Farms & Abbey

Step back in time at the traditional Muckross Farms, then explore the woodland around Muckross Abbey along the Friars’ Walk.

Muckross & Dinis Loop

One of Killarney’s most beautiful forest walks, crossing the peninsula between the Middle and Lower Lakes, with a stop at Dinis Cottage.
